October is observed as Oak Awareness Month across the state of Illinois.  Oaks deserve attention since it is our state tree and have been a major majestic component of our landscape for centuries.  Interested person can learn more about the status of oaks, caring for the trees and how to protect the trees' future.  Those attending will receive a free oak tree seedling. This program is co-sponsored by The Conservation Foundation and its partners through the Chicago Region Trees Initiative, including the Kendall County Forest Preserve District, The Morton Arboretum, Illinois Department of Natural Resources Division of Forest Resources, University of Illinois Extension; and the Yorkville Public Library. Registration is required.
